Good readers, and Good Writers

Image from:
In the reading, Nabokou states that a good reader consists of many things. First of all you should notice details. Also, you must have imagination, memory, and an artistic sense. He also states that to be a reader at all, you must reread things, and be an active reader. We must have time to get into the book that we read, as if its our own other world. I believe everything that Nabokou states about a good reader is true. I too believe that imagination, and an artistic delight should be in a good reader. I don't  consider myself to be a good reader. I'm not the worst, but, i do need to improve on some things, such as re-reading things.

Here is a link that i thought would be interesting :

  1. I found it interesting that so many of us all touched on the same points. I think most of us agreed that, “imagination, memory, and an artistic sense” were important. But you made an additional, and just as interesting, point. Rereading – I really had not thought much about it until we read this article – is important as Nabokov suggests. Until now, there are very few things I have reread.

I think now that it must be, in rereading an “old friend” of a story, a deeper way to engage in “the world of the story.” I had not thought of it before, but when we make a new friend do we only go out to coffee once and never see them again? I think your point of improving your rereading skills is a good one. I also will take it to heart.

I enjoyed your blog posting. It was short and to the point. You made a very good point about rereading, sometimes it takes a second look to find the point of the story.

  4. I thought that it was interesting after reading his points as to what he said was a good reader, made me think and wonder if i was a good reader!! So I pondered it, and realized I could defiantly touch up some areas. I wish over the years that I have improved. Most of the time I need to re-read things a few times to understand the entire point, and not just the words surrounding it. The points that writers make can mean several things at one time. I want to try some of the things that he thinks makes a good reader, and see if I can improve sometime!
